Film Permit

Permits to produce audio or visual recordings or commercial film or television taping on public property shall be obtained upon request and upon the payment of a permitting fee of $10.00. The permit shall entitle the holder to use public property to produce audio or visual recordings on the days specified in the permit, provided that the public property used is not destroyed or damaged in any way. This section is not intended to require a permit of any news organization, which shall be exempt from the requirements of this section.

Any permit issued by the City may be conditioned on requirements that are necessary to protect the health, welfare, safety or morals of the citizens or to prevent a nuisance, all at the discretion of the city, or such permit may be denied if in the city's judgment the health, welfare, safety or morals of its citizens will be significantly impaired.

Who needs a Film permit?

  • Anyone using props in the park.
  • Any commercial entity seeking to produce audio or visual pictures and/or recordings.
  • Commercial film or television taping on public property. 

Who does not need a film permit?

  • Students and private citizens who are not utilizing props.
  • This section is not intended to require a permit of any news organization, which shall be exempt from the requirements of this section.
  • The provisions of this section are not intended to apply to any conduct protected by federal or state law, including the right to peacefully and lawfully assemble and protest, or to any conduct of citizens lawfully engaged in their work, profession, or employment.
