Field Trips

Thank you for choosing Fort King National Historic Landmark to host your field trip. We are excited to help you learn and explore the wonders of this historic site. 

We have two options for field trips here at Fort King: Guided Tour & Self-Guided Tour. Any groups over 15 total guests must choose the guided tour option. All field trip requests must be submitted at least two weeks before arrival date.

Guided Tour 

  • Paid tour is led by historic reenactors who bring the history of Fort King back to life. Includes a tour of the Fort, Welcome Center, Archaeology Resource Center, Seep Spring, and Daughters of the American Revolution Cemetery
  • Cost is $3 per student, with one free chaperone per 10 students. Additional chaperones are $3 per person
  • Students will be split into groups and will travel to various stations where they will learn about Fort King and frontier Florida life, including pioneer and Seminole history. Students are encouraged to ask questions from our reenactors, and may get to experience a hands-on activity
  • Only available Tuesday through Thursday 
  • Limited to 60 people per group

Self-Guided Tour

  • Free tour led by teachers/group leaders
  • Staff can provide a scavenger hunt for the site (Group leaders may request a PDF version of the scavenger hunt before arriving)
  • Only available on Fridays or Saturdays during the Welcome Center’s normal operating hours
  • Limited to15 people per group
