Hours and Location

The Fort King Visitor Center and Archaeological Resource Center are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM.  The park is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset or 7 PM (whichever comes first). The Fort King National Historic Landmark is located at 3925 E. Fort King St., Ocala, FL 34470.

1. Is the park pet friendly? 

Yes. All pets must remain on a leash while in the park. It is the responsibility of the owner to clean up after their pet. Doggy bags are not available at the park so be sure to bring your own. Pets are welcomed throughout the park, but only service animals are allowed inside the Welcome Center. 
 
2. Is there a cost to get into the park? 

There is no cost. 
 
3. When are you open? 

The park, including the trail and fort, is open every day from sunup until 5 pm or sundown, whichever comes first. The Welcome Center and Archaeology Resource Center are open on Fridays and Saturdays from 10-5. 
 
4. What is there to do? 

Fort King includes the reconstructed fort, a nature walking trail that includes the Seep Spring, Chickee, Welcome Center, and Archaeology Resource Center. There are picnic tables around the park to enjoy a picnic, but no grills available. 
 
5. Is this a National Park or part of the National Park Service? 

Fort King is a National Landmark but is owned jointly by the City of Ocala and Marion County. It is not a National Park. 
 
6. Can I get a stamp for my park passport? 

Yes! We have a stamp for the park passports at the front desk of the Visitor Center which is open Friday and Saturday.
 
7. Do you have a gift shop? 

We do not have a gift shop currently. 
 
8. I would like to schedule a tour. Who do I contact for that?

Amenities

Park amenities include a reconstructed fort, the Visitor Center complete with Fort King and Florida history, a library, video viewing and artifacts found across the site. There is also a Heritage Teaching Garden, an interpretive trail that descends from the top of the hill (where the fort stands) to the Seep Spring and down through a ravine that includes both foreign and native plant and tree species. Pack a lunch and make some memories at one of our picnic facilities. Group visits of ten or more should call Fort King to schedule. Arrangements can be made to see the site for persons with mobility issues.

City of Ocala Film/Video Production Permit 

Application must be submitted to receive permission to use City property for any commercial film, video, and/or still photo shoot. For consideration, the completed application must be submitted a minimum of 20 days and not more than 365 days prior to film/production date(s). Application must be complete, include any required attachments and the required $10 non-refundable processing fee.
