Ocala Fire Rescue
Ocala Fire Rescue Urges the Public to Prioritize Safety this Independence Day (OCALA, FL.) July 2, 2024 โ Fireworks are a classic part of our Independence Day celebrations, but they can pose significant risks if not handled properly. As July 4th approaches, Ocala Fire Rescue is reminding residents to prioritize safety by attending professional displays rather than engaging in personal firework activities. Ocala Fire Rescue has outlined several key safety precautions to keep in mind for those who still choose to use personal fireworks: ๐ Always read and follow instructions. Each firework comes with specific guidelines for safe usage. Ensure you understand and adhere to them strictly. ๐ Set up in a clear, open area. Fireworks should be lit in an area free of flammable materials, buildings, and overhead obstructions. ๐ Keep a safe distance. Spectators should maintain a considerable distance from the launch site to avoid injury from misfires or falling debris. ๐ Have safety equipment on hand. Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby to extinguish any accidental fires. ๐ Never relight duds. If a firework fails to go off, do not attempt to relight it. Wait 20 minutes before soaking it in water. Professional displays managed by certified technicians offer the awe and excitement this holiday merits without the added risks. By attending youโll be ensuring your familyโs safety while supporting community efforts to celebrate responsibly. Ocala Fire Rescue
To the naked eye this picture may not say much, but to department unsung heroes - like the prevention and training divisions - it speaks volume. This picture speaks of advanced pre-incident planning of an expansive 150,000 sq ft, three-story hospital, covering everything from fire alarm and sprinkler activations, to tactical operations, and elevator rescues. It speaks of Ocala Fire Rescueโs ongoing commitment to maintaining the highest level of preparedness and safety for the community. And it speaks of a proactive approach to familiarizing ourselves with the unique features and potential hazards at the new UF Health Neighborhood Hospital, to respond effectively to any emergencies that may arise. So, thank you to the prevention and training divisions for everything you do behind the scenes keep Ocala safe. You are the Goose to our Maverick, the Dwight Schrute to our Michael Scott, and the Chewbacca to our Han Solo - we simply wouldn't be the same without you.
