Ocala Fire Rescue
Ocala Fire Rescue Urges the Public to Prioritize Safety this Independence Day (OCALA, FL.) July 2, 2024 β Fireworks are a classic part of our Independence Day celebrations, but they can pose significant risks if not handled properly. As July 4th approaches, Ocala Fire Rescue is reminding residents to prioritize safety by attending professional displays rather than engaging in personal firework activities. Ocala Fire Rescue has outlined several key safety precautions to keep in mind for those who still choose to use personal fireworks: π Always read and follow instructions. Each firework comes with specific guidelines for safe usage. Ensure you understand and adhere to them strictly. π Set up in a clear, open area. Fireworks should be lit in an area free of flammable materials, buildings, and overhead obstructions. π Keep a safe distance. Spectators should maintain a considerable distance from the launch site to avoid injury from misfires or falling debris. π Have safety equipment on hand. Keep a bucket of water or a hose nearby to extinguish any accidental fires. π Never relight duds. If a firework fails to go off, do not attempt to relight it. Wait 20 minutes before soaking it in water. Professional displays managed by certified technicians offer the awe and excitement this holiday merits without the added risks. By attending youβll be ensuring your familyβs safety while supporting community efforts to celebrate responsibly.
