Ocala Fire Rescue
If you’re traveling through or toward Ocala and are prone to getting hangry, you may want to consider stopping to grab a bite before continuing your commute. According to Florida 511 there is emergency roadwork on I-75 SB near mile marker 349 (SR-200). Two right lanes are closed. Drivers will experience delays while traveling through the area and should seek alternate routes.

Florida Department of Transportation
TRAFFIC ADVISORY from the Florida Department of Transportation: Motorists are advised of a slowdown in traffic along northbound Interstate 75 (I-75) north of U.S. 27 and southbound I-75 north of County Road (C.R.) 318 in Marion County starting as soon as 8 p.m. on Monday, April 22. Traffic will be briefly slowed down to 20 mph in both directions by Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) troopers to allow Duke Energy to remove a fiber optic cable. Once work is completed, traffic will be released. FHP troopers will also briefly stop traffic for 5 to 10 minutes at the State Road (S.R.) 326 on ramp to northbound I-75 and the C.R. 318 on ramp to southbound I-75 while this work takes place. Drivers should expect delays. Please drive alert, avoid distractions, and follow the direction of FHP troopers. Divisions
The Ocala Fire Rescue organization is divided into six divisions: Fire Administration, Fire Safety Management, Suppression, Fire Safety Education, EMS/Training, and Communications.
Fire Administration
The Fire Chief manages the overall operation of the fire department. Five division heads report administratively to the fire chief. The Administrative Division is assisted by three administrative assistants.
Fire Safety Management
The Fire Marshal for the city of Ocala manages the daily operation of the Fire Safety Management Division. Fire inspectors perform field fire inspections, review building plans, make recommendations for new commercial construction, and investigate fires that occur within the city of Ocala.
Fire Suppression
An Operations Chief manages and works with shift Battalion Chiefs, who oversee the city of Ocala’s seven fire stations and more than 120 firefighters who respond to fire and other emergencies.
Fire Safety Education
This division is responsible for educating our citizens about the dangers of fire, how to prevent fire, and what to do if a fire should occur. Training in the use of fire extinguishers and a multitude of other topics can be provided. The Fire Safety Education Division Battalion Chief is also responsible for releasing public information and serves as the department’s public information officer.
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) & Training Division
This division facilitates and provides didactic and hands-on continuing education to firefighters, relating to EMS and fire topics. Staff assigned to this division also serve as incident Safety Officers. Other functions handled by this division include managing the logistics of EMS supplies and equipment, issuing personal protective equipment, submittal of required reports to the State of Florida pertaining to 911 responses, and quality assurance.
Communication Division
This division manages the Communications Technicians who work in the 911 call center. Additionally this division is responsible for handling mobile and portable radio and telephone related issues. A host of ancillary functions are incorporated into the Communications Division such as mobile data terminals, mobile gateways, mobile & portable radios, and cellular phones.
