(OCALA, FL.) June 16, 2023 – On Friday, June 16, at approximately 3:19 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue's Engine 2, Rescue 2, Tower 1, Battalion Chief 22, and a Safety Officer were dispatched to reports of entrapment in a residential structure.

Engine 2 and Rescue 2 arrived at the 3700 block of SE Eighth St. to find a minor trapped under a tree that crashed through the residence's roof while the family slept.

Rescue 2 assessed the patient while Tower 1 and Engine 2 stabilized the roof to avoid a secondary collapse. The crews then used chainsaws to remove the tree and gain access to the patient pinned underneath.

Once freed, the patient was removed and transported to Shands Hospital.

No other injuries were reported.

Marion County Fire Rescue and the Ocala Police Department also responded.
