Neighbor Notices Garage Fire and Jumps into Action in Ocala

(OCALA, FL.) April 4, 2023 – On Tuesday, April 4, at approximately 10:12 a.m., Ocala Fire Rescue's Engines 2, 3, and 5 Rescue 2, Squad 7, Battalion Chief 11 and 22, and a Safety Officer were dispatched to the 4300 block of NE 11th Street where a structure fire was reported.

Units arrived to find smoke billowing from an enclosed, detached garage behind a home. A neighbor who noticed smoke coming from the metal building was attempting to extinguish the fire.

Crews secured a water source and attacked the flames emitting from an electric appliance in the rear of the garage.

The fire was contained to the area of origin and extinguished rapidly.

No injuries were reported.

The Ocala Police Department and Marion County Fire Rescue also responded.
