Water Production

The Water Treatment Plant has been in operation since 1972.

Water Treatment Plant

Operating as the only drinking water plant in the City, it performs a vital role in serving over 60,000 citizens and ensuring that safe potable water (drinking water) is supplied 24 hours a day seven days a week.

On average the plant produces 12 million gallons per day of award winning drinking water. A trained and licensed operator is at the plant 24 hours a day to produce high quality drinking water to our community. These operators test the water every two hours to ensure that it meets and exceeds all drinking water standards.

The City of Ocala is currently in the process of design and construction of a new Water Treatment Plant #2. This facility will feature four Lower Floridan Aquifer wells that have been drilled to depths over 1,300 feet. The new plant will offer relief to the Upper Floridan Aquifer and assist in protecting Silver Springs. It set to be fully operational by 2030.
