Lift Stations

The City of Ocala has over 130 lift stations. Lift stations are an important part of the sanitary sewer system. Gravity is utilized in our sewer system to move waste from your house or business to one of the Water Reclamation Facilities. In some locations there is a change in elevation and gravity is no longer on our side. In these situations, we use lift stations to "lift" the waste to a higher elevation, and get gravity back on our side. All of the City of Ocala's lift stations are remotely monitored by technicians through a computer program called SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition). These technicians are able to see flows and monitor alarms that are indicators that something at a lift station isn't working properly.

Lift Station

Because lift stations are moving raw sewage, the City tries to reduce odors as much as possible. this is done through a few different odor control technologies. If you ever notice any audible or visual alarms, odor problems or if you have any site appearance complaints, please call (352) 351-6775.
