Stormwater Engineering

People have been managing Natural Disasters since the beginning of time! So, where does the water go once it rains? This is where we come in!

Welcome to the Stormwater Engineering Webpage!

We have been designing and managing stormwater in the City of Ocala since the late 1980s. The Stormwater Engineering Division is responsible for successfully regulating, managing, and maintaining all stormwater runoff to Ocala’s water bodies. This allows us to meet growth management goals of flood prevention, wetland preservation, groundwater discharge, and water quality protection!

We ensure that public fresh water resources are maintained to the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) standards for the State of Florida!

With proper maintenance and treatment of the City's stormwater system and runoff into the public fresh water areas, everyone can continue to enjoy the natural beauty here in Ocala.

The City of Ocala is permitted by the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES). This permit regulates what can be discharged into our waters and delegates compliance enforcement to the City. The permit requires the City to control and reduce pollutants entering the storm water systems from residents and commercial properties.
