What to Recycle

The City of Ocala has contracted with Waste Pro to provide single stream curbside recycling. All of your recycling is to be placed in your tan cart according to the following list:

ITEMS THAT CAN BE PLACED IN YOUR RECYCLING CART

  • All cardboard (including boxes broken down, cereal boxes and clean pizza boxes, etc.)
  • Newspaper including inserts
  • Magazines and catalogs
  • Junk mail
  • Telephone books
  • Paper bags
  • Office paper and mixed paper
  • Plastics, after rinsing out (all numbers #1 thru #7), plastic buckets, tubs, pots and toys
  • Glass, after rinsing out (clear, green and amber)
  • Aluminum containers and cans, after rinsing out
  • Metal cans and containers, after rinsing out, including empty aerosol cans
  • Paper milk cartons, after rinsing out

ITEMS NOT TO BE PLACED IN YOUR RECYCLING CART

  • Food waste including used paper plates and plastic ware
  • Styrofoam
  • Electronics
  • Ceramics or dishes
  • Motor oil containers
  • Hazardous household waste (chemicals, pesticides, oil, filters, paint, thinners, gas, cleaning fluids, solvents, sharps containers, batteries, pool chemicals and medicines)
  • Light bulbs of any kind
  • Window glass and mirrors
  • Yard waste, wood, wood items, fence products and construction debris
  • Trash (including diapers and clothing)
  • Metals (other than cans and aluminum)
  • Plastic bags

Please be sure that cardboard boxes are broken down in order to fit inside the cart. Also please rinse out your items before placing them into the cart.
