Mural Final Design Presentation

Post Date:10/07/2021 12:31 PM

OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2021) – The City of Ocala’s Cultural Arts and Sciences Division, along with Fine Arts for Ocala (FAFO), Racial Harmony and Cultural Awareness Task Force and the Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Commission, will be presenting the final design for the Croskey Mural Thursday, Oct. 28, 6 p.m. The mural will be featured on the west and south-facing walls of the E. D. Croskey Recreation Center, 1510 NW Fourth St.

The final design presentation was originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 8. To allow the public more time to submit stories and images to the muralist, Cosby Hayes, and literary artist, Cynthia Graham, the presentation date has been postponed. Three gatherings were held at the E. D. Croskey Recreation Center and two online forms were offered to the public as opportunities to participate in the mural’s concept.

The final design presentation is free to attend and open to the public. There will be temperature checks upon entry and cleaning procedures will be in place. Per current CDC guidelines for public indoor settings in areas of substantial or high community transmission, all attendees are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings to cover the nose and mouth, maintain a proper social distance of six feet and frequently sanitize their hands.
