OCALA, Fla. (June 10, 2024) – The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department will host Rex the Squirrel’s Birthday Bash on Wednesday, July 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, located at 1821 NW 21st Ave.
Rex the Squirrel is the official mascot and community ambassador for Ocala Recreation and Parks.
The birthday celebration will feature a Glow Dance Party. Participants are encouraged to get their groove on with glow sticks and enjoy a day filled with music by Fresh Force DJ’s. Other activities include creating friendship bracelets, enjoying ice pops, participating in games, and meeting Rex himself.
“July is National Parks and Recreation Month, and we can’t think of a better way to highlight this month-long celebration than a party featuring our favorite team member, Rex the Squirrel,” said Julie Johnson, Ocala Recreation and Parks’ Interim Director. “Come celebrate with us at Rex’s third annual birthday bash.”
