Rescinds Precautionary Boil Water Advisory

Post Date:05/31/2024 4:09 PM

OCALA, Fla. (May 31, 2024) – City of Ocala Water Resource officials have rescinded a Florida Department of Health required precautionary boil water notice affecting 3800 Block to 4900 Block, NW Blitchton Road and NW 52nd Ave from State Road 40 to NW 8th St. due to a drop in pressure while a contractor was completing an installation of a fire line. This may cause contamination of all drinking water in that area.

The original notice was released Wednesday, May 29 due to a possible contamination of drinking water. The City of Ocala Water Resources Department advises the water is now safe to drink, cook with, and carry out all normal daily activities. The lines in the affected area were flushed, and several samples were collected. Tests show the water has no sign of bacteria for two consecutive days, and the chlorine residual meets regulatory standards.

For more information, please contact the Water Resources Department at 352-351-6772.
