OCALA, Fla. (April 4, 2024) – The Ocala City Council has adopted changes to the order of business for Ocala City Council meetings. Council will now allocate time at the end of each meeting for members of the public to speak about topics not published on the agenda. This change will be implemented at the April 16 meeting.

Council President will call guest speakers to approach the podium when it’s their turn to speak. A three-minute speaking opportunity will be granted to the public; speakers are expected to be mindful of their allotted time to allow all public comments to be heard. Council President reserves the right to stop speakers once the three-minute time frame has expired to maintain fairness during the public comment period.

Public comments pertaining to agenda items are discussed prior to council voting on that agenda item. The same three-minute time frame to voice comments and concerns will be provided.

Those who wish to make a public comment may obtain a speaker request form from the City Clerk’s office at 352-629-8266 or clerk@ocalafl.gov; or utilize their right to speak during regular public comment.
