City of Ocala to Host Fair Housing Community Event

OCALA, Fla. (March 27, 2024) – The City of Ocala Community Development Services will host a Fair Housing Community event Thursday, April 11, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Mary Sue Rich Community Center at Reed Place, 1821 NW 21st Ave.

The event will provide citizens with insights on a range of topics, including fair housing basics, surplus land opportunities, banking and budgeting, family consumer, and community services. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with guest speakers and participate in one-on-one discussions with non-profit and community organizations to explore available resources. The goal of the event is to empower individuals with knowledge and provide connections to essential services in the community.

Guest speakers include:

  • Lena Hopkins, Community Legal Services
  • Jimmy Cowan, Marion County Property Appraiser
  • Giovanna Benitez, UF/IFAS Extension
  • Jeff Hill, Union Home Mortgage
  • Beth Nelson and Pebbles Vance, United Way of Marion County
  • James Haynes, City of Ocala
  • Ruth Reed, Neighborhood Citizens of NW Ocala, Inc.

There is no registration required to attend, and the event is free and open to the public.
