UPDATE: Astronomy Night at Ocala Regional Sportsplex Canceled Due to Inclement Weather

OCALA, Fla. (March 1, 2024) – Due to the potential for inclement weather, the Astronomy Night event scheduled for Saturday, March 2, 6 p.m. at Ocala Regional Sportsplex, 3500 SW 67th Ave. Rd. has been canceled. The program will be rescheduled for later this year.

OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 27, 2024) – The City of Ocala Recreation and Parks Department, in partnership with the Gainesville Observatory, and local astronomy clubs will host Astronomy Night Saturday, March 2, 6 p.m. at Ocala Regional Sportsplex, 3500 SW 67th Ave. Rd. This program is free and open to the public. No registration is required.

Attendees will have an opportunity to learn about our night skies and stargaze with fellow observers. Gainesville’s University of Florida Observatory director and associates will be on site with their telescopes. Participants are encouraged to bring chairs and blanks.

In preparation for this program, the Ocala Regional Sportsplex will be closed Saturday, March 2, 5:30 p.m. This closure includes all softball fields, basketball, and volleyball courts. The sportsplex will reopen to the public Sunday, March 3, 8 a.m.
