First Annual OTrak Chalk Walk at Tuscawilla Park

Post Date:01/23/2024 10:36 AM

OCALA, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2024) – The City of Ocala presents the first annual OTrak Chalk Walk at Tuscawilla Art Park, 213 NE Fifth St.,  Saturday, Jan. 27, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The event kicks off Tuscawilla Art Park Series with a live chalk drawing competition along the OTrak by professional artists competing for monetary prizes. Winners of the professional chalk art competition will be announced at 5:30 p.m. in the Art Park.

The theme for this year’s OTrak Chalk Walk competition is “O, The Places We’ll Go,” a travel and transportation theme inspired by the linear park system known as Osceola Trak, connecting the Art Park and Tuscawilla Park located to the north of downtown with the Ocala Downtown Market located to the south.

Attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite chalk art for the People’s Choice Award. Additionally, for $10 (cash only) everyone is invited to create their own chalk art with provided supplies by the City of Ocala, Cultural Arts division. Community chalk drawing will be permitted in designated sidewalk areas within the art park only.

Live musical performances by Mike Abbott, The Mudds, Ecliff, Fareeza, and Becky Baby will be on the Tuscawilla Art Park stage throughout the day. Local artisans, craftsmen, and non-profits will be on site along with food and refreshments available for purchase from local food trucks.

The Tuscawilla Art Park Series is sponsored by Elite Equestrian Magazine and It’s All About You… Real Estate, LLC.

In the event of inclement weather, OTrak Chalk Walk will be postponed until Saturday, Feb. 3.
