OCALA, Fla. (May 9, 2023) – The City of Ocala Engineering Department will begin a change in traffic control at SE Third St. at South Magnolia and SE First Ave. Currently, both intersections are controlled by traffic signals, however, the new stop controls will be as follows:
- All-way stop control for S Magnolia Avenue at SE Third Street
- All-way stop control for SE First Avenue at SE Third Street
A recent traffic study determined that traffic signals were unwarranted for this intersection.
As part of the signal removal process beginning Thursday, May 11, signals will be in flash mode, and stop control devices will be added to all approaches. Message boards and necessary devices will be in place to notify drivers of the new traffic pattern.
