Post Date:10/20/2022 4:15 PM

OCALA, Fla. (Oct. 20, 2022) – The City of Ocala, along with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and partners across the state of Florida, are celebrating the sixth annual Mobility Week beginning Saturday, Oct. 29 through Saturday, Nov. 5.

Cities, counties, metropolitan/transportation planning organizations, transit agencies, and more will host events to encourage Floridians to make efficient and safe transportation choices, promote multimodal transportation options, and roll out new initiatives and policies.

“Mobility Week is a demonstration of our ongoing commitment to providing an innovative transportation system that fits the needs and lifestyles of Florida’s residents and visitors,” said FDOT Secretary Kevin J. Thibault, P.E. “Across the state, organizations partner to promote transportation mode choices while working toward policies that foster sustainable mobility. Together, we can ensure a safe and efficient transportation system for our great state.”

Mobility Week supports the City of Ocala and SunTran’s mission to provide safe, comfortable, and accessible transit services as a viable means of mobility to the citizens and visitors of Ocala/Marion County.

Residents and riders are encouraged to help SunTran celebrate Mobility Week.  Riders will receive free safety items when boarding the bus on Monday, Oct. 24, 8 to 11 a.m. and 2 to 4 p.m.  SunTran will implement “Try Transit Tuesdays” for two days beginning Tuesday, Oct. 25, and Tuesday, Nov. 8.  Fares will be waived for all travelers on these two days only.
